The "Problem Solving Session" is a non-traditional approach to those needing to talk about their issues but are not able to commit to the time of traditional counseling.
People who attend counseling are often times experiencing uncomfortable feelings
and they want relief as quickly as possible.
With traditional counseling approaches, people see the counselor for the standard 50-minute session, usually once a week. It often takes the counselor 2 to 3 sessions to gain enough information in order to begin being helpful. That means your distress may continue at least that length of time. During this time, you may begin to feel a sense of understanding and validation for your concerns. However, issues of distress may continue.
This "Problem Solving Session" is intended to be a one time session that can last from 2 to 3 hours where I obtain the information necessary to understand the problem and situation as fully as possible so I can be helpful sooner.
At the end of our first meeting, you will be given very direct and honest feedback as well as learn skills to begin resolving the issue. You will be provided practical, direct information, and guidance and direction to help resolve matters causing the distress.
This session may be followed with a couple of 'booster sessions' to tweak the skills learned during the session, gain more clarity and assess changes made.
While I wholeheartedly believe in the traditional counseling process; for some people, this approach works best. This session is primarily for those who are not experiencing long-term or chronic mood disorders.
In order to request this "Problem Solving Session", you must call Jessica to have a brief phone assessment to be sure that you and the issues you want to address would be a good fit for this approach.
